I was interested to find your wonderful web site for the Essig family. Yesterday I was at a meeting with people who grew up in Chicago. (My maiden name is Swinyard–daughter of Gwen and Bill) I was telling them about the beautiful costumes that Lester and Margaret provided for the queens of the Gold and Green Balls that were held in the Edgewater Beach Hotel. I knew the Essigs and thought the world of them. Margaret called me her “little butterfly” because she dressed me in a black lace leotard with beautiful silk wings as Judy Hart and I danced at the Gold and Green Ball to the tune of “Butterfly”. Do you happen to have any pictures of those Queens or anything related to the Gold and green Balls that were held back then?
